Office Address | Implant Impression Methods There are two impression methods for implant restorations. The Open Tray or Pick-up technique is usually used for implants placed in the front of the mouth and areas with good interincisal opening or access. The Closed Tray or Reseating technique is used for posterior teeth or areas with less access to remove a screw prior to removing the impression from the mouth. Open Tray (Pick-up) Technique 1. Remove healing abutment and debride/irrigate area 2. Insert impression post and confirm fit with periapical radiograph 3. Make impression, remove impression post screw and remove impression with impression post remaining in the impression 4. Debride area and replace healing abutment 5. Send impression, with screws, to lab with bite registration, models, tooth shades and instructions
Closed Tray (Reseating) Technique 1. Remove healing abutment and debride/irrigate area 2. Insert impression post and confirm fit with periapical radiograph 3. Make impression and remove impression with impression post remaining in the implant. 4. Unscrew impression post from implant and place into the impression 5. Debride area and replace healing abutment 6. Send impression, with screws, to lab with bite registration, models, tooth shades and instructions |
